Project Overview
The third generation Sparx Hockey Skate Sharpener and its unprecedented new high-tech features including Bluetooth, mobile application and a multi function LCD. The Sparx Sharpener 3 delivers unmatched precision, accuracy and performance to players of all levels.
Concept
The product needed several updates including a better Bluetooth display, improved sharpening algorithms, and a new smart phone app to monitor and control sharpening cycles. The app also allows users to purchase supplies for their sharpener and we added boot loader so the client can make updates to the sharper software over the phone. Content on the unit and the app is available in six different languages.
Solution
We developed a smart phone app for Apple and Adroid phones, updated the unit screen for easier reading, and better electronics for control. We also added Bluetooth for communication with the app.
Results
Our client has a rapid prototype that is being rolled out into their first product run. The machine has better accuracy in the sharpening wheel life cycle management, and our client has a more competitive product to take to market.
